The Market

The general aviation market has continued to grow at a consistent rate over the last few years and Forecast International has projected that manufacturers of general aviation and utility aircraft will turn nearly 27,140 aircraft into almost $22.55 billion from the period 2007 – 2016. Currently in the UK we have 21,331*UK registered aircraft, 32,000 registered PPL Licence holders and over 300 flying clubs and schools.and this is set to grow year on year.

General Aviation is an affluent market for ratings across the board and with many people looking towards their Commercial Pilots Licence they use this sector as their first step to the ultimate goal.

The acquisition of Business Jets and Very Light Jets is set to grow by 27% between 2008 – 2025 and the owners of these aircraft will need pilots to fly them.

Editorial Profile

Today’s Pilot is one of Europe’s top general aviation magazines. Expertly written by pilots, for pilots, the magazine is beautifully designed and illustrated with award winning photography.

Every month each issue contains at least one in-depth flight test, often a Today’s Pilot European or world exclusive covering a range of aircraft types from vintage sailplanes and classic warbirds through to modern kit-planes and even prototypes. Other regular features include technical articles, training pieces, great competitions and free landings vouchers together with all the very latest aviation news from around the world.

Readership

Today’s Pilot is read in over 50 countries and our readers are flyers with an average of 31 – 50 hours flown per year. The average income of a Today’s Pilot reader is £50,000 and, as you would expect, 50% of them own or part share in one or more aircraft. As our readers are very involved with their passion, 64% of them are members of flying associations*.
