The Market
During 2008 the USA recorded increased military aircraft and missile sales to $67.9 bn. UK defence aerospace sales in 2007 were £9.6 bn. Companies such as Eurofighter, Gripen and Rafale are competing for business against each other and against aircraft produced by the USA. There is growth in demand for military helicopters and the potential and competitiveness in the UAV market is strong. The UK continues with a policy of partnering, with many operational and support roles carried out by aerospace businesses, and with competitions ahead for training aircraft and SAR helicopter operations. Regardless of the current global economic status, there will always be a demand for defence equipment and services with competition and developments in military aviation.
